Open access train operating company Grand Central will resume passenger services from 3 December following a cessation during the current national lockdown.
Grand Central, which is owned by Arriva UK Trains and operates passenger rail services on the East Coast Main Line between Sunderland and London King’s Cross and between Bradford Interchange and London King’s Cross, says it will resume services at a reduced timetable. In addition, passengers will be required to book in advance. The reservation-only timetable is aimed at enabling social distancing on board their trains.
There will not be any services between 25 December and 1 January due to the large-scale upgrades taking place at London King’s Cross as part of the East Coast Upgrade works.
There will be no on-board catering available on the trains, so passengers are being asked to bring their own food and drink, should they wish to.
