Track More with Less

Frauscher Sensor Technology makes it simpler for system integrators and railway operators to obtain the information they need to run, monitor and protect their operational network. Best-in-class train wheel detection systems, axle counters and tracking solutions based on inductive sensor technology and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) form an essential component of a wide range of applications.

Frauscher experts are on-site in global markets to ensure comprehensive support during the whole customer life cycle. Additionally customers are able to design, configure, install, adapt and maintain all components and systems by themselves due to individual trainings and support.

Train Wheel Detection

Many years of worldwide experience have enabled Frauscher to develop wheel sensors that are characterised by maximum availability. Even when subjected to extreme temperatures, vibrations and electromagnetic interference, Frauscher wheel sensors generate reliable data for both vital and non-vital applications. The patented rail claws and the plug-in connection available on some models also facilitate the mounting of Frauscher wheel sensors significantly. Additionally simple maintenance cycles guarantee minimal life cycle costs. For realising vital applications, Frauscher provides its customers with proven train wheel detection systems. With its analogue interface, the RSR110 can be integrated into various applications and systems simply and quickly.

Axle Counting

Frauscher axle counters are able to provide higher-level systems with a great deal of information beyond just train detection. At the same time, they can be integrated very effectively into interlocking and signalling systems using state-of-the-art software and hardware interfaces. Connection to a high-performance electronic interlocking is possible both via a customer-specific interface and the freely available Frauscher Safe Ethernet FSE protocol. All Frauscher axle counters have been structured in such a way that they are modular and scalable. They can be quickly and easily configured, commissioned, maintained and adapted by both system integrators and operators. Various tasks during installation and operation can be accompanied by innovative tools, such as the Frauscher Configuration Tool FCT or the Frauscher Diagnostic System FDS. Frauscher offers three axle counting systems in order to provide the most effective solution for all functional, operational and infrastructure-related requirements.

Based on the principle of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Frauscher Tracking Solutions FTS form a new generation of live tracking. They enable applications for train tracking, asset condition monitoring and security requirements by using only one single solution – on and near the tracks. It is possible to detect passing trains, wheel flats, rail defects, footsteps on or near the cable, works such as sawing or digging, rock falls, animal herds and more in real-time. To increase data quality, FTS can be combined with proven axle counters and wheel detection systems. Thus Frauscher can provide its customers with massively expanded options.

Essential Components for Various Applications

Control trains and systems: Precise detection and tracking of train movements enable an efficient train control management. Frauscher systems provide information required for track vacancy detection (SIL 4), to manage level crossings, for switching point protection or platform announcements and further applications.

Monitor the condition of trains and infrastructure: Globally proven train wheel detection systems provide highly precise information for reliable and safe triggering of trackside monitoring equipment. Furthermore, tracking solutions offer innovative possibilities to directly monitor train as well as infrastructure assets without the need of any on-board equipment.

Protect personnel and infrastructure: The ability of detecting all kinds of activities along a track forms the basis for efficient protection of personnel, vehicles, trespassers or even animals. These capabilities can also be used for securing infrastructure components from cable thefts or vandalism.

Simple Access to the Information You Need

Technologies for a broad range of information: Frauscher provides customers with a broad range of relevant and precise information by developing best-in-class sensors based on inductive sensor technology and on distributed acoustic sensing.

Systems that can be integrated and handled in a simple way: Due to open interfaces Frauscher solutions can be simply integrated into any infrastructure on various levels. The smart system architecture enables to use wheel detection, axle counting and tracking systems as stand-alone or integrated solution.

Support for complete success in your projects: Frauscher’s customer proximity and technical know-how on-site in the markets enables answering requirements with tailored solutions. This enables to guarantee an outstanding support during the whole customer life cycle.
