Alstom has been awarded a new maintenance contract for a set of nine X-trafik trains in the Gävleborg region of Sweden.

The contract, which extends over eleven years, is set to include both operations and maintenance of the X-trafik units.

Alstom’s workshop in Gävle will handle the maintenance of X-trafik’s trains

Work is scheduled to begin in June 2025, and will be carried out through VR Sverige AB’s new appointment as the sole operator for the X-trains in Gävleborg County.

The units covered consist of nine two & three carriage Regina-model trains currently operating on routes between Gävle to Ljusdal and Sundsvall.

Maria Signal Martebo, CEO of Alstom Sweden, said:

We are proud of our collaboration with VR Sverige AB and look forward to continuing to provide our expertise in train maintenance, ensuring reliability and efficiency for passengers.

Our commitment to developing and maintaining a sustainable and high-performing train fleet contributes to a greener future for public transport.
