LCV2013 to host Rail Industry Innovation seminar session in collaboration with the Enabling Innovation Team
Cenex the UKs first Centre of Excellence for low carbon vehicle technologies today announced a Rail Industry Innovation seminar session at LCV2013, the UKs largest low carbon vehicle event, taking place on 4 September 2013 at Millbrook Proving Ground. The session will take place in Dome 1, from 11:00 12:30.
The Rail session, hosted in conjunction with TSLGs Enabling Innovation Team (EIT), will inform the low carbon vehicle community about the technology roadmap, innovation needs and innovation processes associated with the UK rail industry, how this translates into R&D collaboration and business opportunities for the low carbon vehicle community.
The session will commence with an introduction from Richard Parry-Jones of Network Rail and the Automotive Council, followed by David Clarke, Director of the EIT, who will provide an overview of Rail Innovation. With over 25 years of rail sector experience, Clarke will provide a scene setting presentation covering the Rail Technical Strategy (RTS), how to engage with rail industry and EIT’s role in de-risking demonstrators. Panel members will then share perspectives on common technology needs and cross-sector opportunities, as well as discussing routes to market.
With the event less than 30 days away, rail professionals are encouraged to register to attend LCV2013 to secure a place at what is sure to be an invaluable session. Registration is free of charge and can be completed at: http://www.cenex-lcv.co.uk/.
Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex said, We are very pleased to be working with the Enabling Innovation Team to host this seminar session at LCV2013. The rail industry is firmly focused on innovation with Research and Business priorities including a focus on low carbon. We see a host of opportunities for technology transfer between the motor industry and the rail industry and these will be explored in the session. The LCV event provides an ideal format for the rail industry to see the latest low carbon vehicle technology being showcased and to network with motor industry innovators. The seminar will help the UK low carbon vehicle community to better understand the rail industry opportunity.
David Clarke, Director of the EIT said, We are delighted to be participating in LCV 2013 and believe there is a great opportunity for collaboration between road and rail. This seminar provides a great opportunity for rail visitors to see the progress in low carbon road vehicles; and understand how these technologies and UK expertise can be applied to the rail industry challenges of reducing cost and carbon whilst increasing capacity and improving customer experience. We really hope this will be the start of a process which will allow motor industry innovators to find new opportunities in the rail industry.
