ÖBB Orders 21 Desiro ML Electric Trains from Siemens Mobility

Siemens Mobility has been contracted to deliver an additional 21 Desiro ML electric trains to Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).

This order will see ÖBB’s Desiro ML fleet grow to  294 trains.

From 2026, the trains will serve local routes in the eastern part of the country. This will include the main line between Vienna Meidling and Floridsdorf, as well as outer branch lines in Lower Austria.

Albrecht Neumann, CEO Rolling Stock, Siemens Mobility, said:

The Desiro ML trains are each equipped with 217 adjustable, ergonomic seats with ample legroom.

Passengers will also benefit from automatic climate control, power sockets, fold-out laptop tables and footrests.

Additional modern amenities include information displays, WiFi connectivity, and an on-board portal.
