The California High-Speed Rail Authority has released new preliminary interior design renderings for its future train amenities.
This includes a vision for the rolling stock’s café car, food service, bike storage and family areas.
This follows an update in November 2023, where the Authority released preliminary 3D modelling, sketches and virtual simulation designs for the seating in its new electric trains.
Initially, the new trains will be operated by Deutsche Bahn, transporting passengers between San Francisco and Los Angeles at speeds of up to 220 miles per hour.
The new high-speed electric trains will be manufactured by Alstom or Siemens, who were announced as the shortlisted bidders earlier this year.
This purchase is supported by a grant for nearly 3.1 billion USD in federal funding for the high-speed project.
Complete testing of the electrified high-speed system is expected by 2028, with the high-speed trains scheduled to enter service by the end of the decade.
