Siemens Mobility and Škoda Group are transferring the first new ComfortJet trains to Czech Railways, with passenger service expected to commence this summer.

The initial deployment of the long-distance ComfortJet trains will cover select routes, including Prague – Bohumín and Bohumín – Prague – Františkovy Lázně.

Comprising eight cars, these trains will initially lack a control and restaurant car, with plans underway to integrate these essential components into subsequent sets.

Once fully operational, the fleet will consist of 20 nine-car sets with a capacity of 555 seats. These units will operate at a maximum speed of 230 km/h.

The ComfortJet trains have been designed to operate seamlessly across national borders, while also optimising passenger comfort and convenience.

They will therefore offer spacious, air-conditioned interiors as well as barrier-free access and onboard entertainment options. Additionally, their advanced safety measures include pressure-tight construction and fire protection systems.

The introduction of ComfortJet trains is part of a broader initiative to modernise Czech Railways’ rolling stock, with nearly 140 new units slated for delivery this year.
