Freight Vehicles

The vehicles listed in this section are used in the rail freight sector.

Freight trains comprise of one or more locomotives hauling freight cars (goods wagons). The freight cars come in different forms, depending on their purpose, such as flat cars, box cars, refrigerated cars, tankers, hopper cars and more. Freight trains are also capable of transporting shipping containers. Depending on a country’s loading gauge, these containers could be double-stacked, which is common in the US, for example, but not in the UK.
