We are the professional association for engineers in Germany who are active in the field of system-driven transport (rail transport).
The VDEI was founded in 1949 and currently has about 4500 members and funding members. The office is based in Frankfurt am Main. Through our districts, we are represented in 15 locations in Germany and are looking after our members directly on the spot.
We are well networked in the railway sector and maintain contacts with railway supervisory authorities, leading railway companies and universities. Our members come from different sectors such as business enterprises, authorities or universities and combine the expertise of various areas of the railway industry.
Since 2010, we have had our own academy, the VDEI Academy for Railway Systems , with which we cover a wide range of apprenticeships, seminars and workshops for the training and further education of railway engineers .
