Plasser & Theurer Sleeper Tamping Unit

Plasser & Theurer will debut their new universal 2-sleeper tamping unit for tracks and turnout at InnoTrans 2016. The 8×4 sleeper tamping unit has the flexibility of the universal 1-sleeper tamping units in split-had design with the output of 2-sleeper tamping units.

The sleeper tamping unit enables coverage to be comprehensive and coherent, with no sleepers missed and none tamped twice, making work more efficient, cost effective and easier. The unit also delivers the best access to all tamping zones. The unit also features speed control of vibration drive, and are made time efficient by improving output in encrusted ballast and reduces maintenance costs.

Plasser & Theurer will be showing off their range of tamping machines at InnoTrans, which have application in any field at varying performance categories. They whole range are ergonomic and feature easily operated control for track geometry handling. All products are geared to 4.0.

The applications will be on show at InnoTrans in Berlin this September at Stand 222 in Hall 26. At the outdoor exhibition grounds, two machines will be on show. The first of these will be the TIF tunnel inspection vehicle.

Under a framework agreement DB AG are purchasing a number of these maintenance vehicles based on this vehicle concept and quality criteria. The TIF is fitted with three cranes with a reach of up to 14.5 m. The cabins are spacious, elastically supported and sound insulated. The cabin also has a walk-on roof with telescopic handrails.

The second machine on show is the Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic E3, which operates and works with a new hybrid drive car to deliver ecologic tamping of turnouts rapidly. The E3 technology stands for Economic – Ecologic – Ergonomic. The machine delivers:

  • perfect maintenance of any type of turnouts thanks to 3-rail lifting and 4-rail tamping
  • low energy and logistics costs
  • reduced pollutant emission
  • reduction in noise levels
  • appropriate inner urban areas and night work
