Network Rail has announced that the first ScotRail electric train has completed test runs on the Glasgow-Barrhead line in Scotland.
Alstom will carry out an overhaul of ScotRail’s Class 334 fleet of 40 trains that operate between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
ScotRail officially entered public ownership on 1 April, with Nicola Sturgeon marking the occasion at Glasgow Queen Street Station.
Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth confirmed in a statement to parliament on 9 February that ScotRail would transfer into public ownership.
ScotRail has agreed a five-year maintenance contract extension for its fleet of Siemens Mobility Class 380 trains.
ScotRail is the first passenger train company to publish data on its rolling stock types and carriage length through Realtime Trains.
Following a successful six-month trial ScotRail is now rolling out the use of GSM-R to give passengers more detailed real-time information.
