High-Speed Trains Suppliers Shortlisted by RENFE
Spanish national railway operator RENFE has announced the four high-speed train suppliers to have been shortlisted to deliver up to 30 high-speed trains to operate on the Spanish network. The shortlisted companies to have passed pre-qualification are Alstom Transport, CAF, Siemens and Patentes Talgo. The tender also provides for the maintenance of vehicles for 30 years, with a possible extension of a further ten years.
On 10 November 2015 the RENFE Board of Directors approved the purchase of 15 high-speed trains with an option to extend. There followed a transparent and fair contest for competitors to submit bids as part of an open tender procedure.
