Mechan Enhances Industry Accreditations

Rail depot equipment specialist, Mechan, has achieved official industry approval of its supply chain credentials from two independent regulating bodies.

The Sheffield-based manufacturer has been awarded the Constructionline Gold standard and endorsement from Safe Contractor, further enhancing its extensive list of accreditations.

Mechan first secured Constructionline recognition in 2016, but has recently attained the gold award, proving it meets PAS 91 and the Common Assessment standards. Both are designed to replace pre-qualification questionnaires and demonstrate to rail procurers that the firm meets industry guidelines, reducing red tape.

Safe Contractor acknowledges Mechan’s performance in a range of areas, including health and safety, quality, environmental and equal opportunities.

Lindsey Mills, Mechan’s sales director, said:

“These accreditations not only demonstrate to public sector buyers the quality of our operations, but also save valuable time in pre-qualification. We pride ourselves on making it as easy as possible to work with us through all stages of the procurement and installation process and this starts with our commitment to achieving these qualifications.”

Mechan is a member of a number of industry standards, including the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme, Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme and Safety Schemes in Procurement. It is also accredited to ISO9001 (quality), ISO45001 (health and safety), ISO14001 (environmental) and has held Investors in People status since 2009.
