SILK, standing for Sustainable, Innovative, Low-Wear Kinetics, is a revolutionary, fully packaged, mobility system aimed at drastically reducing rail and wheel wear, optimizing cost of ownership over the whole life cycle.
Developed in collaboration with the Innovative Light Train Innovative Light Train project consortium, SILK sets new standards in light train technology, enabling more affordable and more inclusive rail operations.
SILK is a breakthrough product, which frees the rail equipment from the traditional bogie system. Combining an advanced Smart Single Axle and electronically controlled independent motorized wheels, SILK adapts to the rail, reducing wear and maintenance, as well as providing with an improved experience overall for all users.
SILK’s name is a reminder of its light touch on the rails, as well as a call for adventure and exploration on the new Silk Roads: the railways.
