InnoTrans: Stadler to Present Electric Train for the Centovalli Railway

At InnoTrans 2024, Stadler will present a tailor-made electric low-floor train for the Centovalli railway in Switzerland.

This unit will be one of eight metre-gauge multiple units that will be delivered to Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi (FART).

The new trains will be designed as three- and four-car versions but will be capable of splitting to be used as two-part sets if required.

The versions are 63.4, 48.9 and 34.5 metres long respectively. The longer version can carry 338 passengers, with 128 seated, while the three-part train can carry 258 passengers, with 95 seated. The two-part version can accommodate 174 passengers, with 49 seated.

The trains are fitted with low-floor entrances, air suspension, air conditioning and a passenger information system. They also feature wheelchair spaces and disabled toilets for people with reduced mobility.

The units will be powered with 1,200 V from the DC overhead contact line. They can manage maximum gradients of 6% on the Centovalli railway in pure adhesion operation.

The new trains have also been given a new modern design that will become standard on the Centovalli railway in the future.

This model will be one of eight vehicles on display by the manufacturer at InnoTrans, alongside a range of signalling and service solutions.
