Texelis Launches SILK Mobility System

Texelis Launches SILK Mobility System: A Revolutionary Intelligent Motorized Single Axle for TELLi Innovative Light Train in Collaboration with TELLi Consortium

Texelis, a leader in mobility platforms, is proud to announce the launch of SILK (standing for Sustainable Innovative Low-wear Kinetics), an innovative power transmission system for the groundbreaking TELLi Innovative Light Train project.

Developed in collaboration with the TELLi consortium, SILK represents a significant advancement in light train technology.

SILK Mobility System features independent wheels with matchers, an exceptional design which sets new standards in the industry and optimizes weight, axle load, and rail wear, optimizing cost of ownership over the whole life cycle.

This pioneering solution supports speeds up to 120 km/h, improves traction performance, and enables braking energy regeneration, which makes it a worthy, more energy-friendly replacement for current-gen diesel or electric trains.

Weighing 30% less than a traditional bogie, SILK offers significant maintenance savings with easily removable bolted wheels, eliminating the need for an underfloor wheel lathe or a wheel press.

Additionally, SILK Mobility System includes smart axle sensors and provides train leveling up to 200 mm, ensuring precise alignment with platforms for easy boarding, including for passengers with reduced mobility. The enhanced rail-wheel interaction reduces wear on both components, leading to substantial maintenance savings and offering passengers a smoother, more comfortable experience.

Texelis SILK leads the industry effort for more affordable, more environment-friendly, more accessible and more secure train transportation over the globe, helping solve the challenges of transportation in a fast changing world.

Laurent Garnier, General Manager at Texelis, states:

“SILK is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in the transportation sector. Our partnership with the TELLi consortium has been instrumental in bringing this revolutionary product to life.”

A model of SILK mobility System will be showcased on Texelis booth at Innotrans (Hall 20, booth 570), Berlin, from Sept 24th to 27th.

TELLi consortium includes:
