Improved Passenger Information at Train Stations With DatNet Web-DFI
Just in time for the turn of the year, the Bentheimer Eisenbahn put the new version of the DatNet Web-DFI passenger information system into operation. The completely renewed version enables detailed traveller information in the station and on the platform. In addition to the tidy, new layout, the displays now show real departure times instead of forecast minutes in the event of a delay. The available space is optimally filled by more stops on the way. And even before the train arrives, the wagon stand provides information about the number of parts of the train and, in the future, also about the locations of the multi-purpose compartment and 1st class.
In addition to the data from the company’s own train operations, the displays show information on bus services and third-party trains from the state data hub VBN, which is connected via VDV 453/454. In the event of a malfunction, the displays provide information via ticker or full page about alternative options.
The entire display technology is based on the Internet standard HTML, which enables flexible adjustments to content and design in the future. A robust computing core ensures uninterrupted operation, even if the network connection fails.
The Bentheimer Eisenbahn has been operating passenger services on the Bad Bentheim-Neuenhaus route since July 7, 2019. After more than 44 years, passenger trains are back on the 28 km route between Neuenhaus and Bad Bentheim. Five railcars connect Bad Bentheim with Nordhorn and Neuenhaus every hour. The Bentheimer Eisenbahn uses the ITCS platform DatNet from ETC Solutions GmbH as a modern operations control system and the heart of customer information.
