Tallysman®’s TW3972 Triple-Band GNSS Antenna Receives European Rail Certification

Tallysman® Wireless Inc. is excited to announce that the TW3972 has added European Rail Certification to its already impressive list of qualifications, which includes Association of American Railroads (AAR) Electronics Environmental Requirements and System Management Standard (S-9401.V1.0).

Worldwide, precise GNSS positioning is being adopted as a key method for train control services. Tallysman®’s TW3972 has been designed to meet the demanding needs of the railroad industry. It features a patented Tallysman® Accutenna® technology, multi-constellation and multi-frequency antenna element (supporting GPS/QZSS-L1/L2/L5, GLONASS-G1/G2/G3, Galileo-E1/E5a/E5b, BeiDou-B1/B2/B2a, and NavIC-L5 signals, as well as L-band correction services). Accutenna® technology provides an excellent axial ratio that mitigates multipath signals and produces clean code and phase measurements.  Clean phase and code observations enable high-precision applications, such as Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Precise Point Positioning (PPP), which provide accurate and precise position estimates (< 0.1 m) . Another key feature of the TW3972 antenna is a deep pre-filter that minimizes out-of-band noise and maximizes in-band reception. This feature enables reliable GNSS signal reception in challenging urban environments, where inter-modulated signal interference from LTE and other cellular bands is common.

The TW3972 antenna has added European Railway Certification to its impressive list of certifications. The European tests include: EN 50155 (Railway applications – Rolling stock – Electronic equipment), EN 61373 (Railway applications – Rolling stock equipment – Shock and vibration tests), EN 50121 (Railway applications – Electromagnetic compatibility), and EN 45545-2 (European Union Standard Fire Testing for Railway Components).

Previously, the TW3972 passed a complete suite of Association of American Railroads (AAR) Electronics Environmental Requirements and System Management Standard (S-9401.V1.0) tests. The AAR tests simulated the following environmental conditions: locomotive vibration, exposure to extreme cold, heat and humidity, blowing rain, sand and dust, extreme sunlight, salt fog and exposure to contaminants. The TW3972 also passed the IP69K certification test (the highest protection available), which subjects the antenna to high pressure water spray (1160-1450 psi).

Since 2018 Tallysman®’s TW3972 has been adopted by several major rail operators.

We invite you to discover Tallysman®’s robust and high-quality TW3972 rail certified antenna.
