PaxLife Innovations and DATAbility Team up to Develop AI-Based Applications for Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance on a Cloudedge Platform for the Railway Industry
After a digital matchmaking a few months ago, the two young German companies are now joining forces to launch a pioneering project to provide decision support leveraging AI capabilities for predictive maintenance and the overhaul of railway components and trains.
The aim of the partnership is to develop an end-to-end, retrofittable, and manufacturer-independent solution on a simple-to-deploy platform for railway operators to realize savings in maintenance costs, reductions of unplanned downtimes and savings on costs related to passenger services disruptions. PaxLife Innovations is providing its railSTACK cloudedge platform as the necessary framework to enable easy deployments and updates of the AI-based software applications for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance by DATAbility.
In particular, there is still today a lack of comprehensible approaches for the analysis of operational data that can be used across heterogeneous fleets and that do not require expensive and long-term upgrades of additional technologies by manufacturers. Both companies are strongly convinced that their complementary solutions and expertise will bring the greatest benefits to public transport operators as digitization progresses.
The launch is scheduled for this year. The collaboration is already supported by a first German railway operator to leverage operational, maintenance and overhaul experiences for optimum CBM and PRM outcomes.
PaxLife Innovations GmbH originally started to connect aircraft passengers to the digital world. Based in Potsdam, PaxLife Innovations now brings its cutting edge technology to rail and public transport. PaxLife specializes in a cloudedge architecture empowering transport operators, systems integrators and applications providers to easily create, deploy and manage any services that run on public transport vehicles.
Engineering know-how meets artificial intelligence: DATAbility develops customized services for the diagnosis, prognosis, and automation of machines and processes by merging engineering know-how with AI. The start-up of former researchers and engineers from the Technical University of Darmstadt provides decision support solutions to reduce quality-related costs and reaction times. The unique selling points lie in the fusion of engineering methods with AI algorithms and in the transformation of the results into business rules and processes for complex systems. This enables the digitization of expert knowledge and the consideration of uncertainties for environments with high requirements – even with less data.
