CRRC Dispatches 2nd Batch of 3 DMUs to Angola

Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd dispatched the second batch of 3 DMUs to Angola on 10 March.

The diesel multiple units will make their way from China to Angola by sea, having been loaded on board the ship in Tianjin Port. They are now headed to Lobito Port.

The total number of DMUs in the contract is 10. The first four were shipped to Angola from the same Chinese port on 10 February.

CRRC says Angola is one of the largest railway markets in Africa. In 2012 CRRC Tangshan exported 120 passenger cars to the country. It then won a contract for 10 DMUs in an international tender. They are to run on the metre-gauge track that connects Angola’s capital Luanda with Quatro de Fevereiro Airport. The DMUs are four-car units with integrated power packs. They are suitable for intercity transport with a top running speed of 100km/h. They can run in three-train formations.

There are 3 more DMUs outstanding in this order.
