Alstom has revealed the future designs for the 201 Coradia Stream high-capacity trains that it will supply to Renfe in Spain.

The designs for these vehicles were revealed to the Spanish Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, and the President of Renfe, Raül Blanco during their visit to Alstom’s site in Catalonia.

The new trains will each have 6 cars, 4 of which will be low-floor, while 2 will be double-decker. This configuration will provide capacity for over 900 passengers.

The design also includes 12 evenly distributed doors on each side of the vehicle to improve passenger flow and reduce station dwell time.

In addition, the Coradia Stream high-capacity trains will be equipped with advanced technology to improve reliability and punctuality. For example, data collection and real-time information will enable more efficient operational decision-making.

The first three of these units are currently being manufactured by Alstom, prior to the validation and certification processes beginning in 2024.

Series production of the remaining 198 units will then begin, with Alstom aiming to deliver between 3 and 4 trains to Renfe each month.
