The new Metropolis metro car features a sustainable design with high recyclability and 100% LED lighting. It is also equipped with a smart information system, improved accessibility and air treatment technology.

Throughout the event, Alstom representatives are also speaking on key topics related to urban mobility including signalling, maintenance, and cyber security solutions.

This focus will help UITP showcase the potential of metro systems in providing the fastest and most energy-efficient way to get around a city.

Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Chairman of the Board & CEO of Alstom said:

“Our industry is at the heart of the transformation of our cities. Rail offers the quickest route to decarbonisation for the transport sector. Today, when passengers choose to travel by train, metro or tram, they emit 30 times less greenhouse gases compared to the same journey by car, and 20 times less than by plane. It is our collective responsibility to make rail the more attractive choice for travellers.”
