Roxtec Presents New Sealing Modules for Rolling Stock

Cable and pipe sealing solution provider Roxtec has developed new sealing modules that ensure fire protection for flexible plastic conduit penetrations in the rolling stock industry.

The Roxtec RM PPS modules contain intumescent material which expands to many times its original size to protect conduit applications in case of fire.

Included in Roxtec GH, S, SF or SK transit versions, the Roxtec RM PPS sealing modules contribute to efficient protection against several hazards. They are developed to ensure fire protection, watertightness, and dust-tightness as well as to provide proven cable retention and vibration resistance. This makes them ideal as standard safety solution within rolling stock.

Roxtec RM PPS Modules

The Roxtec RM PPS modules for plastic conduits comply with the standard EN 45545-3. In case of fire, the plastic conduit melts and leaves a void in the fire wall. The intumescent material in the modules reacts to the heat, expands and seals the void preventing flames from spreading.

Designed for Flexibility

The adaptable modules allow rolling stock manufacturers to pass conduit systems of different sizes through structures without cutting the conduit and adding fire adapters on each side of the transit. They can also mix Roxtec RM PPS sealing modules with regular Roxtec RM modules if they want to be able to route and safely seal both plastic conduits and cables in the same opening in the floor or wall.

The complete transits have IP 66/67, E60 and HL3 ratings according to IEC 60529 and EN 45545.
