PowerRail Announces Plans for Expansion and Relocation

PowerRail, North American’s leading distributor of aftermarket locomotive parts and components, announced they have purchased a new 200,000 sq. ft. facility and will be moving their operations over the next several months.

After almost 16 years of operating out of Duryea, Pa., PowerRail will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located at 182 Susquehanna Ave. in the nearby town of Exeter.

CEO and Chairman of the Board, Paul Foster, originally formed PowerRail in 2003 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In 2006, after unprecedented growth, the company moved to a 7+ acre site in Duryea, Pa., including an 80,000 sq. ft. warehouse to support the company’s rapidly growing business.

CEO and Chairman of the Board, Paul Foster, said:

“When I first started this company 19 years ago, we were simply a distributor. Over the years our business model has changed, and now we are much more than that. Today we are manufacturing and remanufacturing parts and components, and we’re distributing them globally. This new facility will allow us to continue to grow and provide our customers, both domestic and international, with the quality and service they have come to expect from PowerRail.”

The new facility, formerly occupied by Pride Mobility, is more than double the size of their existing Corporate Offices and Distribution Center. The additional warehouse space and numerous receiving and shipping docks will assist PowerRail in their goal of providing on-time delivery to customers around the world.

Executive Vice-President, Mark Nolan, shared:

“Within our logo are the words, ‘Quality, Price, Service, Delivery.’ Those four words are the basis of our culture at PowerRail. We continually strive to provide enhanced products with cost-savings, reliability, and quality in mind.

“The development that will come with this new building will allow us to continue to grow and focus on expanding our product offerings for our customers.”

The purchase of this new facility will also allow PowerRail the opportunity to consolidate some of their existing locations. Currently housed at PowerRail’s main campus in Duryea are the Corporate Offices and Distribution Center, as well as two of PowerRail’s manufacturing facilities; PowerRail Industries and Avoca Rail Products. Having all these facilities under one roof will allow for more efficient synergies between the locations.

As PowerRail grows and expands, the community of Exeter will also benefit from this move.

PowerRail’s Executive Vice-President of Operations and Finance, Kevin Wright, stated:

“This move brings an extraordinary amount of opportunity, not only to PowerRail, but to the surrounding area, as well. With the expansion of our operations will come many new jobs, including Machinists, Welders, Customer Service, Accounting, Logistics and more.”

PowerRail’s new location not only offers room for growth but will also assist in reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The new facility will include a variety of environmentally friendly efficiencies, such as LED lighting, a high-efficient HVAC system, energy efficient electrical systems for equipment and machinery, as well as a new environmentally safe powder coating system in lieu of spray painting. Employees will continue to participate in the company-wide recycling program which includes paper, cardboard, and plastics.
