In the past 3 years, the systems integrator equipped a total of 370 PKP Intercity carriages from the vehicle manufacturer PESA with cutting-edge dual-polarized railway antennas from Antonics. Until a few years ago, the industry primarily relied on outdated technology, prompting the need for modernization.

In recent years, to enhance passenger comfort, 370 PKP Intercity carriages by PESA have undergone extensive repairs, modernization, and have been equipped with cutting-edge technology. These digital solutions also support the vehicle control of the carriages and enhance their safety.
High-performance railway antennas are a prerequisite for an uninterrupted network on rails. These antennas establish a stable connection via mobile communication, functioning reliably even in adverse conditions due to cross-polarized antenna elements and can receive dual polarizations.

Antonics provided intensive consulting for the project and antenna selection. “To meet the requirements, we generally don’t have to develop a custom antenna but could choose the suitable solution from our extensive portfolio developed over the past 15 years,” says René Roeder, CTO of ANTONICS GmbH. After thorough consultation and antenna training with LEDATEL and PESA, various cross-polarized multi-band antennas for LTE MIMO 4×4, WiFi, GNSS, and DVB-T were suggested, perfectly meeting the requirements.
