Rolling stock lessor, Alpha Trains is expanding its fleet with the purchase of up to 70 Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility.
The framework agreement includes an initial order for 35 locomotives. It encompasses several variants of the Vectron locomotive, including Multi-System and Dual Mode units.
Vectron locomotives are known for their high efficiency and adaptability. They have a maximum power output of up to 6.4 megawatts and can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h.
The new units will complement Alpha Trains’ existing fleet, which already includes Vectron MS, AC, and Dual Mode models.
Notably, this expansion includes the first Vectron multi-system locomotives for France. These units will be capable of operating along the crucial North-South corridor, covering Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and optionally Luxembourg.
This order therefore marks a significant step in Alpha Trains’ strategy to strengthen its presence in the French market and enhance cross-border rail operations across Europe.
The new locomotives will be manufactured at Siemens Mobility’s Munich-Allach plant, with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2026.

In addition to expanding its fleet, Alpha Trains has also amended its existing service contract with Siemens Mobility, initially signed in 2023.
The revised contract will now include maintenance services for the new locomotives in both Belgium and France, ensuring high availability and operational efficiency across the fleet.
