The congress will discuss the growing metro industry in India, but also enable operators, regulating bodies, government bodies and industry experts to meet, network and gain expertise from the panel of speakers throughout the two day event.
In the summer of 2014, Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced that the Union Government would be investing in metros in all cities in India with a population exceeding one million people. There are currently 15 cities which benefit from a metro either in operation or in the planning stages, this figure will rise in the coming years. In light of this growth and opportunity, Indias metro industry has never been more exciting.
India is an incredible market for railways and metros. India Railways is one of the largest organisations in the world, operated by the Ministry of Railways, it has 71,000 miles of track and 7,500 stations. It transports more than 8.9billion passengers annually, half of which are urban travellers and potential passengers on city metros.
The focus of the congress will be to examine projects currently in planning, construction and operation and the issues and concerns that they face. As ever, the latest technological innovations will be examined, specifically in IT, signalling and communication and operation and maintenance.
Representative CEOs of metros, railways and governmental bodies will be in attendance, as well as legal and marketing experts. The expert panel will include representatives of the metros of Mumbai, Hyderbad, Kochi, Jaipur, Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata, among others.
The congress will attract around 120 C-Level executives to see exhibitions by signalling and communications providers, and on track monitoring, IT and information systems, information and physical security, engineering and construction, infrastructure, design, marketing and sales and operations will all be on show to exhibit the latest in product innovation.
