Alstom is showcasing a range of rail technologies and North American transit projects at APTA EXPO 2026 in Chicago.
The company is exhibiting at Booth 1806 during the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) event, which runs from October 5-7.

Alstom’s presence at the event is centred on the company’s experience with integrated and connected transit systems, such as the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) automated metro in Montréal.
The company is using interactive demonstrations to highlight how digital technologies, infrastructure and services can be combined to support transit operations and passenger services.
Among the technologies being presented is FlexCare Perform, Alstom’s rail maintenance service covering different types of rail assets.
Alstom is also highlighting its Citadis light rail vehicle platform for the North American market. The company describes Citadis as a flexible solution for urban passenger transport, alongside its wider portfolio of integrated metro systems.
The exhibition also includes examples of Alstom’s work with US transit agencies. This includes its subway and commuter rail vehicles for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York. Alstom has manufactured more than 4,200 subway cars for New York City Transit since 1983 and has recently received an order for more than 300 commuter rail cars for Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad. The vehicles are being manufactured at Alstom’s facility in Hornell, New York.
High-Speed and Regional Rail
Alstom is also highlighting its work on Amtrak’s high-speed fleet. The company manufactured 28 trainsets for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, providing the fastest trains in the US to date.
Elsewhere, Alstom is presenting its work with the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system, for which it has delivered 1,000 rail cars as part of the agency’s Fleet of the Future programme. The cars incorporate technologies intended to improve energy efficiency and environmental performance, alongside passenger-focused features.
Alstom’s APTA display also covers operations and maintenance services for Southern California’s Metrolink. The company has worked with the Southern California Regional Rail Authority for more than 30 years. Its current activities include train crew and customer services, rolling stock maintenance and maintenance of Metrolink facilities.
Automated Rail Services
Alstom’s transport portfolio at APTA also showcases its automated people mover (APM) system at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Innovia automated people mover system has operated at the airport since 1980, while Alstom is now delivering new APM vehicles and providing operations and maintenance services.
Alstom’s APTA EXPO presence brings together rolling stock, rail services, automated transport and digital technologies, reflecting the range of solutions the company supplies to transit agencies across North America.
