GSF RailInfra Delivers SoundSafe Movable Prototype

GSF RailInfra is proud to present our latest product; the SoundSafe Movable. SoundSafe Movable is a new and innovative mini noise barrier concept.

By removing the main drawbacks of a mini noise barrier; its impact on the track structure and on maintenance processes, we present a novel solution for noise mitigation. This new concept allows the direct replacement of 3-meter-high noise barrier for a 90-cm-high one. Thereby removing most of the negative impact of noise barriers on local residents (e.g. interrupted sightlines and shadows cast). Furthermore, as less material is needed it also improves the ecological footprint.

The wooden SoundSafe Movable noise barrier

Thanks to our innovative foundation and novel rotating load bearing structure we can now position noise barriers close to the source of the noise, while keeping the foundation at a distance of the track. The unique hinged bearing structure allows the entire noise barrier to be quickly pushed aside for maintenance activities and such.

In the accompanying video we showcase our prototypes that were delivered at the Railcenter in Amersfoort (Netherlands) in September of 2023. The lessons learned will allow us to finalize the product and the necessary compliance documents.

The prototypes were used to validate and test both the mechanical concept and the sound mitigation of the concept. Independent consultancy and engineering firm DGMR has conducted acoustic measurements to provide irrefutable proof of the efficacy of the SoundSafe Movable.

SoundSafe Movable shall be ready for deliveries in 2024 with wooden and steel panels (50-year lifespan for both). Suitable sound absorbing panels from third parties can also be mounted on our bearing structure.
