With the construction start for the new multi-purpose building at Elektro-Thermit GmbH & Co. KG in Halle (Saale), Goldschmidt is sending a clear signal for the strategic development of this longstanding site. The new building is a core element of a comprehensive modernisation concept designed to make the location future-proof. Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, with construction carried out by construction company Goldbeck.

As part of the modernisation programme, all buildings and facilities have been thoroughly assessed and will be further developed in line with the company’s long-term strategy. In addition, the expansion will provide extra capacity for innovative business areas, such as the development of battery-powered +S® tools for the Thermit® welding process.

13 Sub-Projects for Sustainable Growth
The modernisation concept encompasses 13 independent sub-projects that are being implemented step by step. The first major milestones have already been achieved, including the expansion of the Thermit® welder training centre, which has doubled training capacity at the site and enhanced facilities with modern training and social spaces.

The new multi-purpose building brings another core area of the site concept to life. The new facility combines a mechatronic production centre with a modern office wing and provides optimally equipped spaces for production, research, and training.
