Bombardier at Rail Solutions Asia 2016

Bombardier Transportation is helping to transform the transport infrastructure in Malaysia by modernising Kuala Lumpur’s metro network. The new Bombardier INNOVIA Metro 300 trainsets which will soon operate on the Kelana Jaya (KLAV) line to meet growing demand on the city’s metro network. The trains will increase not only capacity, but also safety, reliability and comfort.

As part of the Bombardier Hartasuma Consortium, Bombardier delivered the first of the KLAV trainsets for testing and commissioning to be undertaken prior to operating passenger services. The assemblage of the trains’ interiors will take place locally at the Westport facility in Malaysia.

 

Bombardier is also responsible for the overhaul and maintenance works on the Kelana Jaya Line, where it will deliver the BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 650 Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) solution on the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Line 1.

The project, which will improve connectivity in the country, especially around Kuala Lumpur, will cater to around 1.2 million residents. While System Acceptance Tests are currently taking place for Phase 1 of the project, the construction of the 51km track from Sungai Buloh to Semantan is nearing completion, expected to begin operating passenger services by the end of 2016. Bombardier’s CITYFLO 650 CBTC technology will be installed on the track, improving capacity and safety.

Rail Solutions Asia 2016

Bombardier’s attendance at the Rail Solutions Asia 2016 exhibition will provide an opportunity to showcase its latest technologies relating to urban transit, as well as its experience in Project Management, specifically Smart Project Management for Seamless System Integration. Bombardier will host a rail control workshop, advocating the benefits of CBTC, among which are not only improved capacity and safety but also reduced life-cycle costs. On the third day of the three day event, Bombardier will offer delegates the opportunity to visit its Subang depot. As part of the site visit, delegates will see the new INNOVIA Metro 300 as it completes final testing.

The Bombardier Team will be in attendance at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Exhibition Hall Level 3, on 11–13 May 2016.
