Canada: AECOM to Deliver Extension for Eglinton Crosstown LRT

AECOM has been selected by Metrolinx to deliver a 9.2-kilometre extension for the upcoming Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) line.

The project, which will create a continuous transit line stretching from Scarborough, through midtown Toronto and into Mississauga, will connect with various other local and regional transit including GO Transit and UP Express services.

Richard Barrett, Chief Executive of AECOM’s Canada Region, said:

“We’re honoured to partner with Metrolinx to realise this key part of Ontario’s historic transportation vision.

“By connecting our industry-leading transportation expertise with our unique program management capabilities through a global and collaborative culture, we’re prepared to support this transformative program that is expected to expand transit access to neighbourhoods throughout Toronto, bringing lasting benefits to the region.”

The majority of the extension will be situated underground, with a section of the new line running on an elevated guideway between Scarlett Road and Jane Street.

The design and construction of new stations along the route will be delivered under a separate contract.
