The new low-floor, zero-emission Flexity light-rail vehicles (LRV) are being produced by Alstom in Canada and will join a fleet of 204 Alstom trams that are already operational in Toronto.

These new vehicles have been designed to enhance the travel experience and meet the demands of population growth in the Greater Toronto Area.

David Van Der Wee, Vice President Rolling Stock, North America said:

“The team at our manufacturing facility in Thunder Bay is unsurpassed in their experience with assembling and testing TTC streetcars, having delivered over 200 of these vehicles through the years. We are proud to offer our customer and Torontonians the public transit they deserve through our ability to manufacture and test locally thanks to Alstom’s large industrial footprint in the province.”

In addition to the new trams, Alstom has previously delivered 480 Toronto Rocket subway cars to the TTC.

Furthermore, it provided a communications-based train control (CBTC) railway signalling solution on the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE), with this solution also currently being supplied on Line 1 Yonge–University.
