Stadler has completed its first two Class 555 metro trains for Nexus, the owner and operator of Tyne and Wear Metro.
Phase two of work on Nexus’ Gosforth Metro depot has been completed with the installation of three more sections of line on the site.
Works have started on the Metro Flow track dualling project that will see an existing freight line upgraded and electrified in Tyne and Wear.
Schaltbau contactors are being fitted in the traction system and replace legacy parts from the vehicle originally built by Metro Cammell.
New state-of-the-art trains will be introduced on to the Merseyrail network by 2020 replacing the current fleet which is approaching 40 years old.
