Jeremy Long, CEO, European Business at MTR Corporation, said:

“We are delighted that MTR Express has been recognised as the best operator in Sweden a little over a year since its launch.

“MTR may historically have been associated most with operating high-performing metro railways, but the success of MTR Express demonstrates how we are able to transfer our quality of service and performance to longer distance intercity operations.”

MTR also operates the Stockholm Metro, having won the concession in 2009, and is due to take over the operation of the Stockholm Pendeltåg commuter railway in December 2016. In the UK, MTR will operate Crossrail (recently renamed the Elizabeth Line), which will add 10% to London’s rail capacity and cut journey times across the city.

MTR also runs TfL Rail-branded services between Liverpool St and Shenfield in London since May 2015, and is joint operator of the London Overground since 2007. It is currently one of the most punctual and best quality services operating in the UK. MTR have most recently announced that it will is launching a joint venture partnership with rail operator FirstGroup in order to bid for the South Western rail franchise.
