SJ’s Content Distributed Via Amadeus’ Global Rail Sales Platform
Amadeus, a leading transaction processor and provider of technology solutions for the world wide travel industry has announced that they are to extend a content agreement along with a commercial partnership to continue to distribute SJ, Sweden’s biggest rail operator’s content, through Amadeus’ Global Rail Sales Platform.
Amadeus e-Travel Management Solution
Amadeus’ Global Rail Sales Platform is the company’s rail specific distribution service which allows SJ’s content to be apportioned both online and offline via travel agents channels such as Agent Track and Web Services Track. SJ will continue to distribute their content via corporate and travel management companies (TMC) channels using Amadeus e-Travel Management solution.
The new content agreement will allow normal travel agents to process SJ bookings completely, thus increasing the efficiency and productivity of the travel agents time and increasing sales in the process.
With rail travel increasing in Europe for both business and pleasure, Amadeus’ Global Rail Sales Platform provides the first, efficient and unified process for travel agents to book different rail providers content in one go.
Speaking of the new SJ contract, Head of Amadeus Rail, Thomas Drexler said “ This is yet another important steptowards offering both a global platform and a multi-provider solution for effective rail distribution. With this in mind, we are delighted that SJ has decided to partner with Amadeus by integrating SJ’s full content into Agent Track and Web Services Track. Travel sellers will have access to all fares and all origins and destinations worldwide. Moreover, SJ’s international sales in 2011 alone represented a little less than 2% of SJ’s total sales, illustrating that the commercial opportunity for both SJ and Amadeus is clearly huge”.
Thomas Mann, Head of Distribution at SJ further added “This agreement offers not only a clear opportunity for SJ but in parallel means that there will be a more open and more transparent competitive landscape for the industry. Certainly this agreement will lead to an increase in demand for rail as a viable and practical mode of transport, as it becomes a new and modern solution to address the needs of the 21st century traveler”.
Amadeus will deliver their new Global Rail Sales Platform to SJ in instalments with the initial pilot planned to commence early 2013.
