BeNEX has commissioned Siemens Mobility to deliver a set of 56 regional trains for the Mainfranken regional network.
The contract, signed during InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, comprises 26 four-car Desiro HC and 30 three-car Mireo trains equipped with ETCS, intermittent automatic train control (PZB) and Onboard Units.
All units are barrier-free, and will be equipped with eco-friendly air conditioning, USB ports and bicycle spaces. They will enter service on the Frankfurt–Würzburg–Nürnberg/Bamberg routes toward the end of 2030.

The 30 three-car Mireo trains offer a seating capacity of 210 seats, as well as two toilets and 18 bicycle spaces, whilst the 26 four-car Desiro High Capacity trains are capable of carrying up to 242 seated passengers in a double-decker formation, and possess 39 bicycle spaces and three toilets.
All vehicles supplied will be connected to the Siemens Mobility Railigent X platform, which will be used to both exchange and evaluate diagnostic data, passenger counting data, and information for the passenger information system and other functions.
Additionally, Siemens will supply spare parts packages and special tools for both platforms, which are set to be used across a network approximately 330 kilometers long in Hesse and Bavaria.
