Rail electrification, digitalisation and alternative propulsion technologies are set to feature heavily at InnoTrans 2026, with the Railway Technology segment including more than 1,200 exhibitors from around the world.
Taking place in Berlin from 22–25 September 2026, the exhibition will include around 60 new exhibitors from the electrical engineering sector, showcasing technologies designed to support lower-emission and digitally connected rail networks.
Exhibits will focus on battery systems for rail vehicles, energy supply technologies, thermal management, automation, signalling and data infrastructure, reflecting growing investment in rail electrification and digital operations. Organisers said the emphasis is increasingly shifting towards technologies that are ready for deployment across rail vehicles and infrastructure.

InnoTrans offers international companies the ideal platform to present their innovations to a global audience of industry professionals. At the same time, no other event brings together all areas of the Transport Technology value chain so closely – from component production and vehicle manufacturing to infrastructure operators and transport companies.
Several electrical engineering companies will present new products during the exhibition. Polish firms Medcom and GINO AG – Elektrotechnische Fabrik will showcase electrification and power supply systems for rolling stock, while the Harting Group will exhibit industrial connectivity technologies supporting electrified and digital rail operations.
WAGO GmbH is due to present automation and connection technologies for railway applications, including systems for signalling and points control. Meanwhile, French battery manufacturer SAFT plans to launch a new generation of lithium-ion batteries for rail vehicles.
Alongside the exhibition, the InnoTrans Convention will host a programme of industry events. On 24 September, ZVEI will hold its Dialogue Forum, Resilience in Motion: Navigating the Challenges of Future Mobility, examining the technological and economic factors influencing resilient and sustainable transport systems.
Azar Mottale, Head of the Mobility Division at ZVEI (German Electrical and Digital Industry Association) said:Alongside the digitalisation of rail infrastructure and vehicles, battery-electric Multiple Unit Trains are playing an increasingly important role on non-electrified lines in Europe. Compared with conventional diesel locomotives, they are characterised by lower CO2 emissions and greater ride comfort.
