Later this month, InnoTrans 2026 will showcase 113 rail vehicles from 17 countries in its outdoor and track exhibition areas.
The exhibition, taking place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 22 to 25 September, will bring together 130 exhibitors across approximately 20,000 square metres of outdoor space.
Rolling stock will be displayed from across Europe, as well as vehicles from China and South Korea. Getting the vehicles to Berlin has involved a range of transport methods, with some Asian exhibits travelling to Europe by ship before continuing by inland waterway, rail or road.
Slovak freight car manufacturer TATRAVAGÓNKA will present eight vehicles, the largest number from a single exhibitor. Stadler Rail will display seven vehicles, including a hydrogen-powered narrow-gauge train and a battery-electric regional train.
Alternative propulsion will feature across several manufacturers. CRRC will present its hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive, while CAF will present a battery-electric multiple unit.
Alstom will display two Traxx locomotives equipped with onboard signalling technology.
High-Speed and Autonomous Trains
High-speed trains will also feature in the outdoor area. Hitachi and Hyundai Rotem will present trains capable of speeds exceeding 300 km/h, including the ETR1000 Frecciarossa and EMU 320.
Autonomous and remotely operated rail vehicles will form another part of the exhibition. Railevo will present an autonomous rail taxi, while Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane will display an unmanned vehicle.
Monocab, developed by TH Ostwestfalen-Lippe, is an autonomous monorail vehicle designed for use in rural areas. Belgian company Otiv will also demonstrate remote train operation in the Netherlands during InnoTrans.
Night Trains
Night train design will be another focus of this year’s exhibition, with several exhibitors presenting concepts aimed at providing greater privacy and different approaches to overnight passenger accommodation.
Nox Mobility will showcase a prototype based entirely around private compartments for one or two passengers.
Luna Rail GmbH will present concepts incorporating two-storey seating and reclining areas, as well as private cabins for one or two people.
The ALISA project, developed by Tricon AG with partners including the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, satek, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and GETA interieur, will also be presented. The project explores a lightweight sleeper carriage concept, with mock-ups to be displayed in a tent near the South Entrance.
The outdoor and track areas provide visitors with an opportunity to view complete rail vehicles alongside the technologies and components presented elsewhere at the exhibition.
The event is organised by Messe Berlin and will run from 22–25 September 2026 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
