Demikhovsky Engineering Plant (JSC DMZ, a part of CJSC Transmashholding) has entered into supply agreement for 10 cars of ED9E AC EMU with Kazakhstan railways.

The train will be put into commissioning in July, this year, as per the agreement.

Cost Effective Operation

Key advantage of ED9E over previous series AC EMUs lies in power consumption curtailing and, thus, higher economic returns from operation.

Upon clients request, EMU will be formed of cars of I, II and III classes. Passenger seats in I class cars will have 2+2 arrangement with a table between seats, in II class 2+2 with a folded table, in III class cars standard seats 3+3. Staff compartment will be provided in head and trailer cars that engineered with WC. A bar will be built in one of the cars.

Car design features external sliding-plug doors and slack-free couplers. HVAC system will be mounted in cars. Head cars have a ramp to go in/out from high platforms, as well as WC. Saloons are designed with an area designated for wheelchairs.

Video surveillance system will be provided in car saloons, tambours, as well as on head car external perimeter. This system will record events taken place and keep records in nonvolatile memory.

DMZ has handed 10 cars of ED9MK EMU and 22 cars of ED9M to Kazakhstan railways since 2003.
