Brightline has announced that it will begin testing trains at speeds of up to 110 miles-per-hour in Martin and St. Lucie Counties from 17 October 2022.
This is in preparation for line’s scheduled opening to Orlando in 2023.

The trains were produced by Siemens Mobility and each consist of two locomotives and four passenger coaches.
They will be tested in phases along the 129-mile rail corridor between West Palm Beach and Cocoa. Brightline has made crucial safety improvements at all 156 railroad crossings along this route, including new crossing gates, signal systems, pedestrian gates, pavement markings and roadway profiles.
This first phase of testing is expected to take place over a six-week period along an 11-mile section of track.
Once testing is complete, the Brightline service to Orlando is expected to begin carrying passengers in 2023.
