Bombardier Deliver Flexity Classic LRV to Krakow
Krakow Transport Authority (MPK) officially took delivery of the first of 24 Bombardier Flexity Classic Light Rail Vehicles in the presence of the city’s mayor Jacek Majchrowski.
Bombardier has been supplying MPK with LRV’s since 1998 when they placed their first order for 14 vehicles and then followed that order for 14 more in 2001. In 2006 they ordered a further 24 LRV’s before ordering the latest 24 Flexity Classic vehicles in 2010.
Multi-Purpose Areas
The new design of Bombardier’s LRV’s were unveiled at InnoTrans in Berlin in September. Each vehicle is air-conditioned and can accommodate up to 229 passengers in the 32m long, 2.4m wide structure. The vehicles have multi-purpose areas for pushchairs and wheelchairs and five double doors for easy access along with two single doors.
Juian Pilszczek, CEO of MPK Krakow said “The vehicle’s most prominent features are the blue ceiling with LED lighting, an allegory to the stars in the sky, and the city’s coat of arms with the Krakow dragon on passenger seats.”
