Alstom has unveiled its plans for InnoTrans 2026, detailing its offerings for attendees of the show.
With a main base at booth #450 in Hall 3.2, the company will also be utilising a set of two outdoor tracks, which will showcase a range of brand-new rolling stock including the Traxx Universal locomotive and Coradia Stream intercity train.
With a focus on how trains, signalling, infrastructure, services and digital technologies can be integrated to improve operational performance across the railway lifecycle, Alstom has stated that digital solutions will act as the centrepiece of this year’s displays, with the company claiming that digital ‘acts as the operating intelligence of the railway, transforming data into better decisions, higher availability, lower energy consumption and improved passenger experiences’.
Indoor Experiences
Inside the exhibition hall, Alstom will offer tours of a fully-mocked-up Adessia Stream train, which has been designed for use by S-Bahn Rheinland. The experience will aim to offer visitors a chance to explore how digital innovation, energy-efficient design, adaptable interiors and smart maintenance might help to shape a more passenger-focused, connected, sustainable future.
In a world-first, the company will unveil its frameless bogie, which has been designed to reduce weight vibrations, increase capacity, and improve accessibility across urban transport systems. Elsewhere at the booth, Alstom will offer attendees the chance to experience an exclusive ‘immersive experience’ inside both its Avelia Horizon and Avelia Stream platforms, which aims to provide insight into the diverse requirements of high-speed operators.
Visitors will also be invited to take part in the company’s Interior Modularity in Motion activity, which will task participants with reconfiguring a modular interior before watching it come to life on a virtual train in front of them. Finally, Alstom will be available to discuss how its service portfolio can be combined with advanced digital solutions in order to allow customers to both maximise asset value and long-term performance.
Speakers & Talks
Throughout the week, Alstom experts and partners will take to the company’s dedicated Rail Stage to speak on insights, innovations, and industry perspectives through a series of talks. These will include subjects such as ‘Mobility on a Global Scale – Shaping Projects and Growth Opportunities’, ‘ETCS at Scale’, ‘AI in Rail: Hype or Real Value?’, ‘Built Right from Day One: A Lifecycle Strategy for Sustainable Rail’, and much more.
Outdoor Tracks
This year will see Alstom displaying a range of rolling stock across two outdoor tracks. Units on display at the event will include the Coradia Stream intercity train, which has been developed for Trenitalia and will be situated on Outdoor track T5/40. Visitors are invited to get a firsthand look at the next-generation of Trenitalia’s intercity train, which, designed for speeds of up to 200 km/h, aims to combine comfort, accessibility, digital innovation and sustainability.
On Outdoor track T2/20, Alstom will showcase its brand new Traxx Universal for Railpool, which stands as the first new-build locomotive authorised in France in over 10 years. Forming part of a 50-locomotive contract, the Traxx unit is equipped with Onvia onboard signalling and last-mile functionality, and will begin cross-border operations across countries along the East-West corridor in the near future.
Finally, Alstom’s Traxx Universal™ for Captrain can be found on Outdoor track T4/36. Part of an order for over 30 Traxx locomotives destined for Captrain entities across Europe, the locomotive also features Onvia onboard signalling and last-mile functionality, and is intended to deliver operations across France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Poland once it begins service.
InnoTrans AI Hackathon
Last but not least, Alstom will host its very-own AI on Track Hackathon, which aims to bring together developers, startups, designers and rail experts in a bid to tackle real-world mobility challenges utilising AI.
With registrations now full, Alstom, as lead sponsor, will lead the ‘Talk to my train’ challenge, as well as support participants with mentors, industry experts and jury members during the event, which kicks off on 23 September at the AI Mobility Lab (Hall 7.1a) before concluding on 25 September with a series of final pitches, as well as an awards ceremony in which finalist teams will present their solutions live.
