TransPennine Express is investing £32 million upgrading its Class 185 trains, transforming each one with new seating, carpets from Axminster Carpets, larger tables, LED lighting and refitted toilets. Plug and USB sockets are being added at every pair of seats.

Fast free Wi-Fi is also being installed on these trains, as well as ‘Exstream’, the onboard entertainment system that’s packed with complimentary films, catch up TV and magazines.

The upgrade is being carried out in York by Siemens and financed by Eversholt Rail.
