Transfesa Logistics is renewing its freight container fleet that it operates on European routes.
The freight operator, which is majority-owned by Deutsche Bahn AG, will put the 122 freight containers into full circulation at the end of June 2020. They will transport Ford’s production components to the UK and Germany.
Transfesa is introducing a new model to improve the loading and unloading system. The new containers will be fully adapted to the customer’s needs. Their versatile design means their use in the market will be as wide-ranging as possible.
The new freight containers will run on two corridors:
- Ford Valencia – Ford’s automotive factory in Dagenham (London)
- Ford plant in Saarlouis – Ford plant in Cologne

New Freight Containers
Transfesa Logistics has worked on the design of the freight containers for two years. The new models feature a number of advantages. The high-cube containers measure 45 foot, with a light tare weight. Consequently, they can transport a greater amount of cargo. The increase in volume goes hand-in-hand with a decrease in energy costs. The overall environmental impact will also be reduced.
The containers will have an open-top or sliding and lifting ceiling. This makes top and side loading and unloading of certain products easier.
