What Diab Does
Diab provides lightweight sandwich-composite solutions for rail interiors, exteriors and structural elements, including floors, walls, doors, ceilings, partition panels, skirts, roofs, fairings, driver cabs and train fronts. Our core materials combine low weight with strength, stiffness, thermal and acoustic insulation, and low water absorption. As non-organic materials, they will not rot, swell or corrode, even in harsh operating environments. This durability significantly reduces maintenance requirements and lowers lifecycle costs. Dedicated grades also support demanding fire, smoke and toxicity requirements for public transport. Diab Case Study
For the Alstom ETR 675 high-speed train for NTV in Italy, Production Group used infused Divinycell P60 in the aerodynamic nose and front structure. Developed with Diab and Chimpex Industriale, the sandwich solution reduced weight while maintaining the stiffness required for a demanding exterior application. Different core thicknesses were applied according to local stiffness and weight requirements, and the infusion process enabled the finished structure to meet stringent EN 45545-2 fire, smoke and toxicity requirements.
