At InnoTrans 2024, Stadler will unveil the world premiere of its RS ZERO zero-emission regional train.
This new model can be fully battery-powered or equipped with a hydrogen power pack as an energy source.
The RS ZERO builds on the success of the Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1, which is one of the most popular regional trains in Germany.
The RS ZERO shuttle maintains the advantages of the RS1, but offers a fully decarbonised drive for use on non-electrified lines.
This will be particularly crucial as the climate crisis calls for old, non-electrified lines in Germany and Europe to be reactivated to shift a higher volume of traffic to the rails.
Like the RS1, it is available as a one- or two-part vehicle. It offers a capacity of 70 to 150 seats, and has the largest low-floor area of any vehicle in its class.
At the trade fair, Stadler will display a prototype of the RS ZERO as a one-part vehicle with a hydrogen drive.
The company will also present numerous design options. It will showcase a multipurpose area for bicycles, pushchairs and luggage; lounge and comfort zones; standard and privacy seats; a wheelchair space; a toilet; and a train office.
This model will be one of eight vehicles on display by the manufacturer at the event, alongside a range of signalling and service solutions.
