The new CTF series, a range of 2-pole time relays with forcibly guided contacts for safety-critical control and signalling circuits in railway and industrial applications. The new CTF series has been developed for applications where a reliable timing function with unambiguous switching states is required. As a hardware-based alternative to PLC timing functions and SIL relays, it enables a cost-effective and straightforward system design.

Hardware-Based Timing Function With Clear Switching States

The CTF series supports timing functions in safety-critical control and signalling circuits in the railway and industrial sectors. Forced-contact design aids the diagnosis of contact faults and enables unambiguous feedback of the switching state to higher-level systems. This makes the series particularly suitable for enable, interlock and monitoring circuits in rail vehicles, infrastructure projects and industrial control systems.

The software-free ASIC logic ensures deterministic behaviour and reduces dependencies on software, versions and system states. At the same time, the relay is ready for operation immediately after switch-on. Switching commands are processed without any start-up time or initialisation phase, as can occur with software-based solutions.

Key features include:

  • 2-pole design with positively driven contacts for clear status feedback
  • Software-free ASIC logic for deterministic behaviour
  • Choice of 2 changeover contacts or 1 normally closed contact + 1 normally open contact
  • Time range from 40 ms to 80 h
  • Compact width of 17.5 mm
  • Gold-plated contacts for loads from 10 mA
  • Power supply: 24 V AC/DC or 110–240 V AC/DC

Flexible Variants for Different Requirements

The CTF series can be adapted to a variety of control tasks. Depending on the application, various contact configurations, supply voltages and functional capabilities are available. Users can choose between versions with 2 changeover contacts (2 CO) or 1 normally closed contact + 1 normally open contact (1 NC + 1 NO). Variants are available for 24 V AC/DC and 110–240 V AC/DC power supplies.

For general timing tasks, multifunctional variants are available with switch-on and switch-off delays, sweep, pulse and flashing functions. For applications requiring step-by-step switching behaviour, the series also includes versions with the special LS function (step switch). This allows you to select the right solution for both versatile timing tasks and specific step-by-step switching applications.
