We’re thrilled to announce that Nomad Digital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alstom, will be proudly participating in The Greatest Gathering – Alstom’s flagship event celebrating the 200th anniversary of the railway.
This landmark celebration, taking place from 1 to 3 August 2025 at Alstom’s historic Litchurch Lane Works in Derby, will be the largest temporary gathering of trains and rail-related exhibits in a generation. It is part of the wider Railway 200 initiative, commemorating the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1825 – the world’s first public railway to use steam locomotives.

But for Nomad Digital, this celebration is especially meaningful.
Did you know that the original Stephenson-built locomotive, Locomotion No. 1, was constructed in Newcastle upon Tyne – the very heart of where Nomad Digital was founded? This deep-rooted connection to the birthplace of rail innovation makes our participation in this event not just symbolic, but personal.
As a global leader in connected transport, Nomad Digital is proud to carry forward the legacy of innovation that began two centuries ago. From steam to smart mobility, we are helping shape the future of rail – one that is more connected, efficient, and passenger-focused.
We look forward to joining our Alstom colleagues and industry partners in Derby to celebrate the past, present, and future of rail. Expect historic locomotives, cutting-edge technology, miniature railways, live music, and a festival atmosphere that promises to inspire the next generation of rail pioneers.
