Bari-based GTS Rail ordered an additional five units with last mile (LM) diesel and battery equipment, which allows the use of the locomotive on non-electrified lines.

These will join its 14 GTS Traxx DC2 and 8 Traxx DC3 locomotives.

The Italian branch of leasing company Railpool ordered five Traxx DC3 LM. These will be in addition to the 10 already in service and the five it inherited from LOCOITALIA.

Finally, Medway Italia ordered an additional three Traxx DC3s, bringing its fleet total to nine.

Alstom has sold over 100 Traxx DC3 units since 2017. Almost half of these (44) have included LM equipment while other customers are now choosing to have this retrofitted.

All the locomotives designed for the Italian market have been and will be produced at Alstom’s Vado Ligure site. The delivery of these latest orders is expected to be completed between May and mid 2023.
